Current developments in implant dentistry aim at
simplifying clinical protocols and at reducing the overall treatment
time. Recent studies indicate that implants can be loaded at the
time of placement in all oral regions. In contrast to this, traditional
clinical experiences favour a staged approach in order to develop
proper bone and soft tissue contours for a perfect outcome particularly
in esthetically demanding areas. As a consequence, clinical research
has to identify the key factors for success and has to define the
boundaries and limitations for reducing healing time as well as
the number of surgical steps.
With respect to the treatment of the totally edentulous jaw, the
presentation introduces a new immediate full-arch rehabilitation
concept. The concept is based on a CT-scan derived custom template
and a fixed prosthesis which are used for flapless surgery and immediate
loading of implants in the fully edentulous jaw. Moreover, the presentation
will discuss the different diagnostic and treatment steps and summarize
on the clinical outcome
